Chastity Murphy is a policy strategist and researcher whose work focuses on the systems underneath economic life — money, payments, technology, public infrastructure, financial regulation, and the institutions that determine who gets access to economic power. She previously served at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where her work included digital payments, digital assets, artificial intelligence in financial services, financial inclusion, consumer protection, and the future of money. She has also worked in Congress and across federal financial-policy institutions on questions involving economic opportunity, financial regulation, and public systems. Today, Chastity is a Visiting Research Fellow with the University of Manchester Law & Technology Initiative and a Roosevelt Institute fellow, where her work examines public financial infrastructure, digital public money, privacy-preserving payments, and how public institutions can build technological systems around democratic values. She is also a contributor to Forbes, writing about the intersection of technology, money, public policy, surveillance, and economic power.
